I am suprised that noone mentioned "The Darkness" given the thread topic. I love me some old 80's hair metal guitar tone. It was nice to hear that sound again and hear fun music again. Seems like everything took a dive and got all serious. I can understand there being a backlash after the over the top vivaciousness of the 80's but that should have ended after Y2K. For some reason, it didn't and music continued to be overly serious for wayyy to long. It's a nice change of pace to hear something cheerful again. Not everything has to be deep and brooding or flooded with painful emotions to be good.

Anyone care to post youtube vids of the newish bands that represent "The Return of the 80's"? I'd like to see what is out there.

That doesn't sound 80's at all to me. Pretty modern. Lots of sample slicing and looping - that's not an 80's thing, more of a hip hop thing.

There is a lot of 80's influence in modern alt pop though. Here are some great new songs that are definitely 80's pop inspired:

That seems a bit pricey for such a guitar, but it does have a certain charm. Love the green.

Yeah, the Darkness is good. Fun music. Ill try to find some of the ones Ive seen. Most of them Ive found that are really doing the 80s thing have been from other countries.

These are really killer guitars, esp for the price. I have a black one. Added a big block on the trem, and put in my Duncan Crazy 8 pickup. Good stuff! I had a yellow one too, but had to sell it.

I want a white one. What is the pickup like? Is it four conductor? I would install a coil tap on the volume knob.

stock pickup is so so. depends what one you get . at first, they were using name brand. Awesome! Then they went with rockfield. those are pretty darn good too. now I think they use a no name brand, so an upgrade will def help. plus, the pup is prolly 2 con as there is no push pull or tap

I thought the metalcore thing, with the eyeliner and tight pants and brightly painted guitars with EMGs, was the modern 80s reincarnation. That was 5-10 years ago. Now it's the early 90s again, rebelling against that. Every 20 years.
