i do believe the V-type is short for Vandenberg, visually they are very close to the same, only differnce seems to be the binding, are either of these guitars of good quality, they diffinatly look interesting.

I think the old Vandenbergs look cooler then the V- Types. But I think the V- Types are basically just Vandenberg reissues that dont come in cool colors your your Brothers.

I bought a pink vandenberg at a pawn shop in minneapolis a year ago for 80 bucks. It had some cig burns and "melts" here and there and some rust on the hardware. I didnt even get it home that day, I traded it on at a local store for a hundred. They listed it on ebay and it went for 290!

It's hard to find real vandenbergs on ebay. All i ever see is the v-types.

the are many differences between them. the angle of the headstock is different. the body shape and edge contour is slightly modified. pickups and trem are different (the original sig series (not the neck thru custom) came with 3 different bridges, kahler 2700, kahler spyder, and a peavey floyd knock off., locking trems. and last, and probably the largest differnce, is the neck. the sig vandy was very thin in all ways. across tyhe fretboard and the thickness of the neck. the vtype has both a wider fretboard, and a thicker neck, probably due to lower quality woods/less dense. they also have a different neck construction than the original. original was a 3 piece neck, design taken from the nitro, tracer, and g90. the new ones are one piece, again probably due to cost. headstock shape is also different.
