9 1/2" radius neck with 12" radius setup?

Does anybody else do this?
I set my guitar up to the correct 9 1/2" radius before my last gig... Oooppss...
I had to change it back! I have set it up this way for a long time... it just feels right to me.
And of course my middle string were not as close to my pole pieces as I'm used to so I lost some gain there.
So I set my high E & B strings up fairly high, Low E rather low and then use a 12" radius for the rest on a 9 1/2" radius neck. Is this Weird? LOL

I do that too! I find that the middle 2 strings don't fret out if you bend either way. The first guitar i got was set up tht way and i guess it stuck.

Re: 9 1/2" radius neck with 12" radius setup?

The key is to have: The neck radius, The string radius, and...The pole piece radius to all match. That's the ideal STARTING place. That config will never be perfect because of playing preferences, wound/plain strings, pup pecullarities etc...

But is going to be pretty close. The string radius not matching the board would be a pretty odd feeling IMO, and I would not like it! Changing pole levels is no biggy (unless we are talking strat.

+2

The topic of this post seems like a take on an earlier compound radius post.
