91 Gibson Les Paul Studio- Cheap!!!!!

I just bought this guitar today. I'm gonna be honest, I got it cheap out of a pawn shop that lets me just pick up pawns that are overdue. I've played it and it plays like freakin' butter. I'm half tempted to ask what it's worth and wait on a buyer it plays so good! It plays just as good as my other 3 Gibsons, and that says alot. I'm being honest, I'm only selling this guitar to make a couple of bucks since I got it so cheap.

Now about the guitar. It has what I beleive to be the original pickups, as they both say "Gibson" on the backs. Everything else looks to be original as well. The neck is straight and has a 60ish taper to it like most all early 90's Studios. I beleive the board is ebony like my 91 Studio Lite because it is dark black. If it is Rosewood, it would really really surprise me. The guitar plays and sound 100%, no issues what-so-ever. Being almost 20 years old it does have some wear. Nothing too major though. A few of the normal bumps, (around 3 or 4) and some checking in the clear on the body and headstock. Nothing too bad though. Gold hardware and gold tuners which look to have came off a Custom since they are embossed Gibson, but I never seen those types on a Studio, may be original though.

I'm including tons of pics, which I will go ahead and say, make the guitar look alot worse than it actually is. I took the pics in full sunlight so it would show every liitle scratch. In person from 10 feet away, the guitar looks close to mint with a nice shine and minimal wear.

The bad part............... it did not come with a case, but, I would be happy to pick up a hardshell for wholesale cost from my buddy to ship it in for an extra $65.

Price................ I'm looking for $500. I want the buyer to pay shipping, so figure $40 to $60, or to average it out, let's just say $550 shipped anywhere in the CONUS. If it's less, consider it a tip, if it's more, it's on me.

EDIT

Here's a pic of what the guitar actually looks like. The camera picked up all the surface scratches that normally don't show up.

Pretty cool. You can sell it as a relic for 3x the price, hehe

Re: 91 Gibson Les Paul Studio- Cheap!!!!!

I'm going to note once again after seeing the large pics, that those made in the sunlight make the guitar look 150% rougher than it actually is!!!! Here are some pics I took inside that show more how it actually looks. I wanted to make sure to get all the details and the outside pics show more than the naked eye can see. 99% of all the white marks you see that looks like checking and deep scratches are actually just light reflecting of small scuffs in the clearcoat. You can't really see them by looking at them, same as polishing swirls. A good buffing would take most of it out. It does have some checking on the headstock you can see, but it also shows up more in the pictures than to actually look at it. I would give the guitar a solid 7.5 out of 10 on condition, even though the pics look likes it's been drug behind a truck. I just wanted all the flaws, no matter how minor to be seen.

Here are a few pics I just took inside that show more how the guitar looks in "real life".

Re: 91 Gibson Les Paul Studio- Cheap!!!!!

You can tell if the fretboard is ebony or rosewood by looking at the grain. If there're a lot of small lines and streaks it's rosewood, if there're virtually none and the wood is really smooth it's ebony.

Re: 91 Gibson Les Paul Studio- Cheap!!!!!

I bought a LP studio that is a 90' , it is a killer guitar!!!

Mine is not brazilian. However it does have very dark rosewood, the good stuff before all this environmental crap.

Im sure this is a killer guitar too.My 90' has the tone and plays like budder!

They really dont make them like they used to.

I'm thinking this is just really dark extra tight grained rosewood. It plays as good as my Standard or Dixie, and that was straight off the hanger where it had been the last 60 someodd days while it was on pawn. Who ever owned it was a player and took decent care of it. I'm sure whoever it was is sick for pawning it and losing it for the amount they did.

I'm gonna do some lookin around my gear and see what I've got to offer up as trade fodder. if it's not gone too soon, I'll be getting back in touch with you. I kinda want to buy it as a refinish project :)

Re: 91 Gibson Les Paul Studio- Cheap!!!!!

Sorry guys, sold it this morning. I stuck it on CL alast night and woke up to about 20 e-mails. I called the first one and it was a guy who has a music store in Birmingham. I met him at Warrior and he gave me the $500 cash. Said he was gonna mark it $899, so it's still available, just not from me!! LOL.

I figure it woulda sold on here last night if I hadn't used those pics that made it look 150% rougher than it actually was, ya know?
