Ran across this one a couple weeks ago and put it on Layaway until it clears 30 Day Resale Hold. Wish the front was as yellowed as the rest of it. The pickguard will be coming off immediately!!!

that pickguard is where the mojo resides

one it clears the hold, lets get some buckle rash started
that one is in bad need of some buckle rash

Dang, you weren't lying when you said yellowed. That's crazy. Must have been owned by a smoker who sweat like a hog and always left it by an open window.

IMO, removing the guard from that thing would be like removing the periods and commas from a book. It would make it hard to read. The heavily contrasting guard provides an attractive punctuation to the guitar's lines and color.

Congratulations on the guitar. I've always like '90's white Studios.

Nope; no smoker or I wouldn't have given it a thought had it reeked of smoke. Shop had it listed as. 1997 "70s Tribute" which I knew was incorrect with the weight of it and the the board plus the Serial Number clearly identified it as a '91.

I couldn't believe it was once white either but finally chalked the color up to it "yellowing" over the past 24 years.

I'm really not a fan of LPs with pickguards and it looked yellowed underneath so I'll have to see what it looks like when I remove it.

Maybe it's not yellowed underneath and that will give you your contrast. LOL

Nope...one of those eBay aftermarket jobs. Prior Owner traded in an SG as well with a Pinup Girl Pickguard.

Re: '91 LP Studio "Yellowed"

Just waiting for it to free up so I can bring it home in two weeks. Got. Gibson TP-6 Fine-tuning Tailpiece but that's the only change I have planned. The EVH/78 is a TB as is another TB I've got coming. No changes until I've sorted it out a bit after getting it home.

Not a fan of pickguards either but I don't hate them. Depends on the guitar. On that one, personally, because of the color and the contrast that a pickguard adds, I'd leave it on. But maybe not that one, not a fan of the rainbow spatter psychedelic thing going on. Totally subjective, personal preference. Doesn't look like it's been played much, not out anyway. Cant tell from the photo but probably doesn't have much fret wear either. Cool find. Hope you got a good deal. I was at a few shops this past week. Used Gibbys were either beat up and overpriced or looked near new and way overpriced. At least they hold their value.

I have heard those called nicotine bursts, whether smoker involved or not. Lovely. I would give it a serious try without a pickguard.

Champagne Top :1:

I quite like the colour, how evenly has it gone?
