a/b switchers

hey im looking for an some kind of pedal that would be good for splitting my guitar signal and running one straight to my amp and the other through all of my effects so i could bypass all of my pedals if i wanted to. I have seen some a/b/y boxes that could do this but i dont really want the Y option because i will never use it. The only box that i have seen without the Y is the boss a/b pedal and i read lots of bad reviews on this. any suggestions? Something that will be as transparent as possible

What you really need is an effects loop switch rather than an A/B. Search here and/or Google loooper with three o's. A single-loop switch will bypass your whole effects chain, switching both the guitar and amp sides. Multi-loop switches let you break your chain up into pieces.

The guy at Loooper was very responsive to email questions and seems to have a good product. He is really open to customizing boxes for a very reasonable rate.

Morely and Radial-ToneBone both make A/B/Y switches, but they are expensive, buffered units. The LoopBone looks like the Rolls Royce of the bunch - Wow!

I've been researching these switches for a while and they seem to come in two flavors:

Passive "true bypass" with no buffers or signal boost
-or-
Active, solid state buffered whizz bang boxes that cost a lot more

For an A/B amp switch, I'd go for a buffered unit with isolated output jacks. IMHO, you can get by with a simple passive unit to create an effects loop, but YMMV, no guarantees in life, etc etc etc.

I've been using the Boss Line Selector for this.. It has 2 loops and i have no complaints with it....

Another vote for Loooper, he has built me a true bypass box and an amp switcher. His lead time for making boxes is probably over a month or so, but well worth the wait.

I've got a Morley ABC switch for $45 shipped, if anyone's interested.
You can't combine, but there's 1 input, and 3 outputs. It's good for using two amps, and using the 3rd to go silent to a tuner. Or, 3 amp setups.

That guy at Loooper must make a fortune. $130 for a 5-6 looper pedal? A bit steep, in my opinion... I've been making looopers for a while now, and they really aren't expensive at all to make.
