...Hey!
So yeah, nothing personal anyone... There was a time when I could just sit around all day and talk about guitars, but I've not quite had the time nor the desire of late. But yeah, I've been doing things lately. Things like this:
And when I do things like that, I can't very well babble on about them to my friends and family... So here I am, lol.
Anyway, nerd stuff:
-MIM body assaulted with a router and bondo, CIJ Fender trem, bridge, random bits, refinned Nissan 350Z orange, CTS pots blah blah blah.
-SD JM Hot pickups, five way switch currently wired as a three way til I can figure out something clever/ridiculous...
-Mighty Mite neck rescued from a crack at the heel, ridiculous (temporary) Sperzel lockers, one of which is missing the wheel, they're ugly, have a stupid ratio and I hate them, but hey, they were free! Need something with pearlized knobs, at any rate.
Anyway, how does it play/sound? A whole lot like an uglier, heavier, less comfortable Jazzmaster, alarmingly
I really only built this thing for two reasons; those being, the fact that I vowed to create one of these for every Jag/JM in the world that had been bastardized ever, and more practically, the fact that I got my hands on this body for like, $5 as compared to the ridiculous price of a JM body... Otherwise I'd just as soon have created a JM. Though this thing is growing on me...
Pickups are a bit hotter than typical(ly I'd like), but not horrible, just very loud. Yeah, it's pretty much indiscernable from JMs soundwise... The trem having moved forward by a bit compared to a "real" one, much in the vain of one of those new-fangled CP whatevers (But I invented that idea BEFORE the CPs even came out, admittedly for aesthetic reasons...) Additionally (mostly for aesthetics) the bridge pickup is about a centimeter back from where it would be on a "real" JM, but eff me, it sounds pretty much exactly like a Jazzmaster.
Do have to level off the frets past the twelfth or so fret, and file the nut down... Still think I prefer the Jag lush-ness to the smoother, mellow flatness of this guitar, but overall a nice changeup at least, and I'm **** proud of it. Nearly sold it, decided not to.
...Took me long enough
Don't know how much I'm really going to hang around here, but I'll shake a few hands and do the rounds while I'm at it bahaha. Might do a demo vid if I can be bothered... Really, just listen to some Dinosaur Jr. and you get the idea.
