Re: A custom 5 based trembucker.
Exactly.
Alnico 8 is very basic, without great subtility I think.
I have the bizarre feeling that with alnico 8, every coil goes in the same direction....aggressivity.
In my neck pickup he is very warm sounding.... But with high gain application he lost it's potential....his nuances.
Alnico 5 is very well balanced i think.... But it's not objektiv.... I was always an a5 fan. I love scooped tones when chords roars out.
Anyway, this jb full shred hybrid + a5 is not exactly what I want but I have to confess he has a big potential. Very rich pickup with a lot of applications. And very interesting.... I don't think this pickup is oriented for a specific kind of music. He is very subtle when turn the volume knob down. The tones are very rich.
I am very happy to hear that this is finally getting under control. I also feel how you feel about alnico8. I used to like it, but now I'm more into A5. actually, A2, 3, 4 and 5 for different aspects and reasons and tones![]()
but still.. sounded a LOT better with a5 than a8!
