a frankenbass combo amp?

ginormous

Understatmentologist
I've got an old PA speaker; single 15" w/piezo horn. My idea: yank the horn, swap the 15 for a coax (w/HF compression driver), install a crossover inside, and put an SS bass amp in where the horn slot would be.

My conundrum -- Can't find a 15" coax driver for less than $500! :wrf:
Anyone got a clue?

You're right there, 15 Inch coax driver. Hard to find and expensive.

Why not go for a standard 15 Inch Instrument speake and fit a horn like I've pictured, in the box [ meaning making a new mounting hole ] It seems like a far cheaper alternative.

This is a piezo 400 watt HF horn and they're cheap.[ And no cross-over necassary ]

One of my stereo speaker pairs is fitted with these and they have fifteens for the main drivers. I have used one of the boxes as a speaker box on a sixty watt guitar amp, on occasions.:14:
