A Gibby for an Ibby - new case day

Well, after almost 30 years of service the original case for my 83 AM 205 has pretty much run it's course. I know that replacement cases for these guitars are very tough to find and I had a hunch that a 339 case might just work so I headed over to GC to give it a shot. To my delight it's a perfect fit. Evidently the AM 205 and the ES 339 have exactly the same bout and length measurements. I wasn't to thrilled about having a Gibson Logo on my new "Ibanez" case but a soft rag and some gun cleaning solvent solved that issue in short order and didn't effect the vinyl at all.

sweet axe man.
I'm not joking when i say those are much better than the knock offs being made by Gibson.

Thanks much. I own a couple of Gibsons as well (a Studio, and an ES 137) but this one has been my #1 for all these years and I expect always will be.

20-30+ year old Ibbys are proving their worth as solid axes in every respect. I've never played a thinline but a mate of mine had an AF75 (or something) – a MIK single cut jazzbox, which seemed pretty good to me, though it's not my kind of guitar at all.

I like how you've left the 'custom' logo.

Thank you much. At first I was going to lose the entire logo but once I had removed the word Gibson I thought that "cuStom" graphic kind of added a nice touch so It's staying.

Wow, that is a gorgeous guitar! I've played a couple of the newer Ibanez semi-hollows and have been impressed. And I keep getting told that the older ones are even better. If it plays half as good as it looks, then I'm sure it's killer. Case looks good too.

Great! How did you manage to keep the baby in mint condition after 30 years? Not even a sign of oxidation on the hardware.
