I love goldtops as well, and that's a good one.... nice dark board too. The color pickup is a personal choice. I happen to like nickel covers or cream, but there isn't a thing wrong with yours as is.
Looks really nice. I have had 2 goldtop les pauls over the years. My first "real" guitar i bought was a 1974 Les Paul Deluxe i bought in 1992 for $350. It was beat to ****, but i played it for about 8 years. I put cream p-90's in it and it sounded great. It needed way too much work so I sold it.
In 1996, i bought a 1995 LP Classic goldtop for $1000. Never cared for the pickups in it (at least in that guitar-I have a 500T in a LP Custom and it sounds amazing!), so i ended up selling it to a family friend in 1998.
I wouldn't change a damn thing, especially if you love the tone. It's a damn fine looking goldtop. Now that I've got a Les Paul in the stable again, I've got gold top fever in a bad way..... and you're not helping, lol.

I wanted a GT for almost 40 years, even when they weren’t cool. Now I have one and she’s my favorite guitar by a long shot. Amazingly comfortable now, the factory setup was ****, but that’s what you get for a grand these days.
