Sunshine Axe Day

Snake Aces

Singlecut Slut
It's a beautiful day here in MN. I have taken my old number 1 from 2008 to 2015 out for some jammin' in the sun.

Warmoth chambered black korina body, wenge 59 roundback neck, ziricote fretboard, Duncan Jazz set with an STK-S4m with pull-pull volume for single coil operation option on all 3 pups. It was a good day...

I need to take some sunshine pics of my new (to me) guitar. It is purple, but on inside pics, it looks black.

Cool specs and backstory. Black Limba ("Korina") is such a gorgeous wood, it's a shame that it's all covered up with paint.
It was the first and last guitar body I finished myself. I've always had interest in finishing guitars. However, this one I just wanted to play, so I rushed to get some wood conditioner and finish from Menards. Minwax. I was so naive. It got the job done though.

The next time I have a sunny day, I'll snap a photo of the back. I put two less coats of olive drab on the back so some of the Black Limba grain still shows through.

These days, unless I can work with somebody to teach me, I leave the guitar body finish to professionals.

All my professionally finished Warmoths show the wood grain. That's the kind of finishing I'd like to master if I ever have the resources to give it another whirl.

Nice, dude! Next time it's sunny and nice out here, I will try to bring some other axes out for more sunshine shots.

They're the best!

I dig that Ibanez finish.
