A little help for new pups on a guitar

New member here (NJ) but a long time fan and lover of SD pups. Over the years I have bought used guitars in really nice shape and gutted the electronics in them and alway seem to have added Seymour Duncans (I will try and post a few pictures in my profile if it allows)

I recently picked up a Hagstrom Viking Deluxe for a real bargain that is literally brand new, never played and a very pretty instrument. I am extremely happy with the quality of the guitar both in finish and construction. Even if purchased new I think this brand provides considerable value.

OK, on to my question: Having been completely tainted towards quality pups with my use of SD products I find the house pups on the Hagstrom (even though new) to be rather sluggish and as I would be describe "muddy", especially with the lower strings. I am a lead vocalist and play predominantly rythym or #2 guitar but really want to swap out the pups on this product for a new pair and am not quite sure what to put in it.

While the guitar uses humbuckers (Gold finish) I will not replace them with Antiquity's as I prefer the look of the SD humbucker pups without the covers.

I am not looking for "growl" sepcifically rather a nice "oomph" with balance to high end, mid range and low end notes, eliminating any muddiness.

Of course if I should be considering something in addition to the pups, please DO recommend. Any and all feedback and suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

thank you in advance
