Hey guys while i was playing my electric guitar without an amp i have noticed something very strange while I'm playing the 3 high strings i can hear some sort of feedback like a Synth sound or something and I'm convinced its comming from the springs

Could you tell me what is causing this sound and how can i fix it

Thanks in Advance

Re: A Mysterious Synth like sound

An audio clip would help greatly. So would an idea of the make and model of guitar that produces this sound. (Fender Jaguars and Jazzmasters are notorious for metallic overtones from between the bridge and tailpiece.)

The sound might not be from the guitar. It could be something in the room resonating.

You could try putting some padding in around the springs to see if that stops the noise. That will at least tell you where the problem is before you try to fix it.

Re: A Mysterious Synth like sound

I do remember having this problem on another strat i fixed it by removing the springs and i put a piece of wood between the bridge and the Body of the guitar sort of a hard tail strat

But i wonder if there is a way to fix the problem without removing the springs

Re: A Mysterious Synth like sound

I have a Tele that I kept hearing this weird synth sound, almost like a 'magic wand' kind of whistle or something. Turned out, it was the D and G strings between the nut and tuners vibrating sympathetically. It only has one string tree so the extra length of the D and G allowed them to vibrate freely. I had to buy a rubber pick holder that wedges into the strings to stop it.

If you're convinced the sound is coming from springs somewhere, then obviously that's different. But if the springs was more of a guess, then check any length of string beyond the nut or bridge that could be vibrating sympathetically also.
