Just thought I'd share the latest batch of Equator hollows that are almost ready to hit the road. Very happy with these.

Pics are here:

+1. If I needed another guitar, I could certainly consider the "walnut" one. Beautiful!

Great work. You came up with a very pleasing body shape, which isn't too radical, but doesn't copy any other company.....not always easy to accomplish.

Just the tailpiece alone looks like it was quite time consuming!

If you ever get around to making ES-335 styled guitars I'm going to be in trouble Dave :)

Way to ruin the fun! :P

I see the walnut one has 3 holes whereas the blond one has 5? Care to explain the intended usages?

mini switches. coil splits, phase or series/parallel swiches.

Dude charges $10,000!!!

I didn't look too far into the site but had to check for my own eyes.
Wow.

A little over the top maybe?

And here's something from the site...

In order to keep my price fixed I don’t offer custom inlay work at present.

It's one thing to charge $10,000 for a handmade custom guitar. I'm used to hearing about classical and jazz guitars in the $6,000 to $8,000 range and up. But for that kind of money, I would expect some awesome capabilities on the part of the luthier.

Ten grand and can't swing custom inlays? Dude…

Dude charges $10,000!!!

My average mini goes for $2500.00

The one referred to as "walnut" is actually Chirimoya wood (South American), it is available....$2350.00 shipped/case included.

:)

I've been looking into that. I am quite ignorant when it comes to Gibson's line of guitars, but am familiar with the 335....don't they do sort of a "mini" version of that, too....same shape, etc...just a bit smaller?

That's what I have in mind.....sort of a PRS sized 335...thinline.

I am wondering if that would be worth my while?

Thoughts?

indeed. fact is there are plenty of people out there who are willing to pay 10 gs for one of languedocs guitars. he builds them all by hand and by himself and consistently has nothing in stock because he just fulfills a waiting list.

I would never pay 10grand for a guitar and i think its way too much but its really just supply and demand.

Ten grand is nothing compared to the thirty grand for an acoustic guitar Linda Mantzer charges. It's Pat Metheny approved, but still...

Yeah, that's what i'm talking about. $2500 is reasonable. $10000 is not reasonable.

If you don't get why Languedoc guitars cost $10,000, then - well, I've already said it: you don't get it.

Yeah.

To all: if you had a list 5 years long of people who were crawling over each other to give you $10,000 for one of your guitars, would you drop the price?

Also, this is a free market. If that is what he [Paul Languedoc] has decided his time is worth, then so be it. He can do that. Seems to be working out alright for him.

Re: A new batch of Equato Hollowbodies ready to go!!! - EYECANDY

absolutely. i dont fault paul for what he charges and as far as i can tell they are top class guitars but if it wasnt for trey then he wouldnt be in the cushy situation he is in.
