OMG does this thing sound great!! An extremely welcome addition, my other guitarist has a 68 as well, so we will be having twin Bassmans at the next show!

what's with the third knob from the left? looks like it broke, and somebody jb welded a nut and bolt on it to make it work

Very, very nice bro. Enjoy !!

I'm waiting for a '65 BandMaster head to be shipped from Alaska.

This thing is just beautiful, there are only a handful of I amps that have come to me sounding perfect in their stock form. This amp is one of em. The bass channel dimed is just lush and full, creamy sustain and perfect grind. Had I known what I was missing, I would have bought a bunch of them Silver faces when they were dirt cheap. It is a total wow amp....

Clips to come, when I get a chance.

Re: A new member of the family!! A 1968....

Just a few years ago, those were dirt cheap. I had a 68 Silverface Showman non reverb, and it's something I should have kept, but I sold it when the point to point thing became a big deal.

I like them in their stock form, but I've often wondered how they'd sound if they could be modded to use EL34's. I have a feeling, it'd take on another cool tone. I'd love to find one of those taller Showman Reverb heads from that era. It's like a Twin Head, and yours is sort of like a Super Reverb head with no verb.

I'd be curious to know which of your cabs that head sounds best with.

ba-zing man...I <3 my 68 showman reverb. That thing looks like it reeks of badassary.

Re: A new member of the family!! A 1968....

i didn't even know they made silver faced amps in 68.... Very cool buy... i'd love one myself!

Re: A new member of the family!! A 1968....

Very nice indeed. I used to have a Silverface Bassman 70 and 2x12 cab. Another one that I should never have sold. :smack:

Right now it sounds great with the Traynor cab with the CTS alnico, that is my preferred for all my heads. I have to get a Weber ohm matcher, as the 16 ohm load is too much for the 4 ohm OT. Sounds great though, really great!!

I wish I would have bought a few when they were cheap, but I was busy snatching up 200.00 Traynors:banana:

They can be. I've done it before, and it does take on another cool tone for guitar. We eventually went back to 6L6's, actually 7581's, as we wanted to max out the headroom for real bass.

Re: A new member of the family!! A 1968....
