a second chance

earlier I tried a CC/APH in my telecaster and was rather disappointed... now after twitching the right buttons on my amp (and setting the pup at the right height) the APH sounds completely different. I didn't know the pickup height had soo much influence on the tone. although the cc still has to go... it just hasn't enough bass.
I think I 'm going with a JB in the bridge ( or a DD, the everlasting dilemma). Just wanted to thank you guys for all the info I got from here.
