A short clip - Duncan Custom SH-5

Duke of Metal

New member
hey guys,
I recorded this highgain clip the other day. Its nothing special, just playing a punch of power chords and some palm mutes.

You can download it from HERE. (Right click & save as or click to open in your MP3 default player).

The clip was made using:
Epi Lespaul (Duncan Custom In bridge)
MP-1 3TM with EQ Mod (Custom Modded).
Carvin T100 (Loaded with EL34s)
Peavey XXL 412 Cab

Mic used was an AKG (not sure of model) and right into the sound card (microphone input). I couldnt crank the sound too much as I live in an apartment.

Let me know what you think and Enjoy.

Thanks

hehehe.. I think i'll pass on the swedish deathmetal stuff, but I'd be more then happy to do a Slayer clip when I get a chance or some speed metal (self written) riffs... I'll try to add some Thrash or Death metal in there..

Nice tone, but looks like the setup adds too much color.....

Thanks.. Well, I guess the cables, units, speakers I am running through will definitly add color to the sound.

I recorded another clip using my current setup:
Ozzy - Bark At the Moon
Metallica - Welcome home (sanitarium)
Iced Earth - The Coming Curse (Scooped sound)

I used a backing track with that.. so it added some drums and bass. I made some mistakes there, so dont mind them :). Its not the complete track. I did the rythm part all the way up to the 1st solo.

Enjoy & let me know how it sounds,
Duke

EDIT - Added more clips

Dude, now I NEED a Custom :)
hehehehe.. I tell ya. when I changed the pickup from stock Epi to Duncan Custom SH-5, the sound was tigther, cleaner and definitly rounder.

Worth the $50 (used that is)

I don't have any speakers here at work unfortunately (wha? doesn't everyone surf these forums at work? :D ) so I can't listen to your tracks, but I will this evening.

The Custom in a Les Paul (or it's copies) is definitely a great chunky sound with some low end "growl" and is my fave pickup in the bridge for that guitar, SGs, Explorers, V's , etc. Cleans up pretty nice too when you roll the volume down on the guitar.

Thank you! the ADA MP-1 3TM and Duncan Custom are definitly an awsome mix together.

Re: A short clip - Duncan Custom SH-5

Thats the sound of the Custom I was talking about: very tight chunky low end.

Sounds great with a just a teeny bit of crunch, or full out distortion like your setup.

Very nice.
