Clips done with Duncan Distortion SH-6 Bridge!

Re: Clips done with Duncan Distortion SH-6 Bridge!

Awesome fat tone. I was gonna get a DiMarzio Super Distortion, but you've made me reconsider :)

Re: Clips done with Duncan Distortion SH-6 Bridge!

Good playing, I think your tone could be a bit less buzzy (to my ears). You've got a good chugging going, I just think you could clean it up a bit to hear it better.

Thanks man! I kinda like a bit of "fuzz" (some people would call it buzz) on my tone. But now that I've "reconstructed" my rig by buying a VHT poweramp and buying a VHT 412 cabinet.

Ones I get the cabinet, i will re-eq somethings on my rig to readjust somethings and when I do that, I will record more clips and I'll probebly re-do "Ozzy - Bark at the moon" and possibly do more tunes and more standalone patch clips.

thanks for checking it out though and sorry for replying really late.

Cheers!

LMAO!

Nice one :) i may be wrong timur, but i cant see how a distortion would be muddy in my floating bridge basswood rg if its not muddy in your fixed bridge 13-60 guage string plus drop c tuning peavey and i only tune to D and use thinner strings.

Re: Clips done with Duncan Distortion SH-6 Bridge!

Those are some great clips. I want to hear some modern metal played by this pickup though; I'm considering getting it for my Dean Caddilac.

Re: Clips done with Duncan Distortion SH-6 Bridge!

Check out "Daemon" & "007 (partial)" @ my SoundClick page (link is in sig) to hear my SH-6 bridge in my Dean Z-X, playing drop-C metal.

My gawd, this was a year ago. Let's keep it going.
Yeah I know.. these guys must really love the clips i made :D..

I also just baught a new guitar.. a Jackson King V (Flying V). it has EMGs 81 and 85 but I am looking to scrap those out and put Duncan distortions in both of the Bridge (SH6B) and Neck (SH6N).

Thanks!

Re: Clips done with Duncan Distortion SH-6 Bridge!

Hey Duke, did you replace your power tubes with 6CA7's or KT-77's or sumthing? I think I saw you make a post about that on another message board.

Hey man,
I replaced the stock SED Winged -C- EL34s in the VHT 2502 with the new JJ KT-77s.

Right away, my ears (and my friend's ears) can tell the difference. The tone became thicker, tighter, clearer and just more aggressive. The louder I turn the poweramp, the punchier and tighter the overall tone gets. Definitly a winner tube.

I didnt try the 6CA7s in there. i am pretty happy with the KT-77s.

Cheers

Thank Duke. I think I'll have to try some JJ KT-77's out some day.

Re: Clips done with Duncan Distortion SH-6 Bridge!

No problem buddy!

what amp do you use now?

Laney AOR series II. It's like a hotrodded JCM800 clone. I guess very similar to a Marshall Jubilee. It's got Sovtek EL34 WXT's in there atm which sound pretty harsh and flubby.

Re: Clips done with Duncan Distortion SH-6 Bridge!

the reason why WFD ressurected this thread was because he wanted to show me your clips because some moron was trying to convince me that the duncan distortion was all "mud"
:laugh2:

Those are cool.. I was actully looking to buy one of those long time ago before i went with the rack stuff.

The KT-77s will definitly tight and thicken the lowend up pretty good. make the mids more "present" instead of being boxy/honky sounding and will definitly make the highs smoother.

Try some Highgain graded JJ ECC83s in that Laney head. I have those in my 3Tube modded MP-1 and I think they sound great.

Cheers

Ahhh alright! thanks WFD :D

I tell ya.. the Duncan Distortion is no where near muddy to my ears. No matter how much gain you use, this pickup will be tight, aggressive and have pretty good clarity. But since its a high output (hot) pickup, you'll almost never need to use alot of gain.

Cheers
