A2 or A5: YOU decide

All right, I've decided to get a set of the Anniversary Seths. Still, I just can't decide between the A2 or A5 versions. So, I'm going to leave that up to you guys. I'll order them this weekend based on the poll results here. Thanks for putting up with my boring, repetitive threads on this subject. :dance: :fing25:

I didn't vote, but I have my own preference. I'd go for the one that Seymour built first. That was the concept. I just can never remember which it was. :blackeye:

I think you're right. But now that I've said that, it sounds silly. You should go for the one that sounds better. (That doesn't help . . . right.)

I Like both and it depends on the guitar?

I normally like sweeter,rounder,touch sensitive in the bridge(A2)....I Like brighter,tighter,more note clarity,full lows in the neck(A5)....

If I could only have one choice though,it'd be A2.

They will be going into my Hamer Special FM. Right now it has an APH-1/Seth combo in it. It sounds really good, nice and smooth. But it's just missing something. Perhaps something of an airy quality that the pickups may be lacking. I don't know how else to describe it, openness?

A2 if I have to choose a set. A5 in the bridge, A2 in the neck would be perfect.

If you already have 2 A2 PAF style buckers in there, and it´s missing airiness and the tone could be "extended" a bit in the high and Low spectrums, then the A5 set is almost a no-brainer IMO

I'm an all or nothing guy.

A2 is super mellow (perfect)

Ceramic is super crisp (Perfect)

A5 is somewhere in between (Blah)

I'm with brother Zerb. Buy the a5. You can always buy a set of regular Seths with the a2's in them later if you want them.

I'ld go with the A2. I think that with the A5 you would lose some of the warmth and midrange, which is what makes the Seth so great.

Ditto, I've never been happy with anything but an A2 in the neck. As for the bridge it's A5 all the way.
