A2P Neck With JB+

So I'm considering getting an Alnico II Pro neck pickup to match my JB+, is that a wise choice? I like the thickness of Alnico II, as long as it would be usable with a Ceramic in the bridge

It'll probably sound just fine. Worse comes to worse, you can always put an A5 in it and make it a JazzN.

That was what I was thinking. I'm thinking about getting a Custom soon, so it needs to sound good with ceramic. How would a ceramic 59 sound...or is that sacrilegious?

That was what I was thinking. I'm thinking about getting a Custom soon, so it needs to sound good with ceramic. How would a ceramic 59 sound...or is that sacrilegious?

I think it does. I use it all the time, and I tend to use complex chords for everything. It certainly doesn't sound muddy at all.

I was waiting for someone with actual experience to chime in. Now that they have, I will add that every recording that I've hear of an A2P makes me surprised to know that it's really using an A2 magnet.

Based off sound samples it's warm but it has a bit of chime as well. How about with gain, does it still sound clear when playing shreddy stuff?

The OP hasn't mentioned what sort of guitar the A2P & JB are going into. IME the combo works fine in 25.5" scale, especially 24-fretters. However with 24.75" scale and 22 frets, the A2P tends to be kinda dull sounding compared to even an A5 JB. I can only imagine that a ceramic one would be even worse.

It's a Jackson Dinky with a Mahogany body, 25.5 scale with 24 frets. It's a ceramic JB.

Not to hijack, but also have question regarding that AIIpro. The WLH set in my LP is not gelling with my splawn. And kinda just wanna run something hotter. Dont have cash to buy pups, so considering using ones I have. I have a Suhr Aldrich, a Rio BBQ and a Genesis Mr Browney I can use in the bridge. (Prolly go with the Aldrich) and for neck pups Im kinda limited to an AIIp. Think that would match with the Aldrich?
