Absolutely. No PU is going to sound great in every wood and guitar design. I prefer an A3 in my PGN. A5's can be a bit bright and scooped, A2's can have an overly-rounded high-end, A8's can have too much output, A4's EQ can be too balanced, UOA5's can be too warm, etc. Whatever needs to be twaeked, there's probably a magnet that can get what you want, or darn close. The point is to try a couple and see. You can go from 'good' to 'great'. What better feeling is there than saying: 'I never knew it could sound like that!'
+1 ,, I changed out the A2 in a PGb to a polished UOA5 and it was unreal how much better the sound and tone was.
