BF/SF Fender amps tend to get lost in the mix due to the lack of midrange and no mods, tubes or speakers can really fix that. You might make it "better" but they still tend to get covered up unless you are the only guitar player in the band.
A few years back I was in a 2 guitar band any my only amp was a 69 Twin Reverb, the other guitar player used an AC-30/6 and when I listen back to live clips I was getting covered up almost every gig...
