Accept "Balls to the Wall" = Tubescreamer into Marshall?

Well, you know what they say:

"Talk is ****."

Let's hear your take on it, tone maestro - show us how it's done.

But realize that if you don't, you're just talking out of your arse... again.

Cough cough, ahem, excuse me sir....

Wow - just listened to the album. Needs more verb! I am pleased with the overall tone though, more so than Round & Round.

Knowing what a pain Garageband is to work, that's pretty darn close! Through my stereo it just needs more low end and softer treble (not necessary less treble, just smoother if that makes sense) and it will be pretty much exact!

In all honesty, that tone isn't anywhere close; thin & buzzy, with super-crispy hi end. Sounds like it was played on an original CRATE SS amp & recorded with a cheap lavaller mic.

If you were pleased with this tone (not just for "Balls To The Wall", but for any guitar tone), then either you don't know good recorded guitar tone, or you're going deaf.

Beer$ is a cool guy and I think he was just being nice.

BALLS count: -1 Balls out of 5 Balls

2nd Attempt -

Same deal as the 1st. Only difference is you added some reverb.

BALLS count: -1 Balls + 1 bouncing Balls (from reverb reflections) = 0 Balls out of 5 Balls

3rd Attempt -

Improvement. You added some balls with the low end. The super-crispy high end has been tamed mostly.

However, the upper mids are still scratchy and the overall distortion isn't juicy at all like a cranked Marshall; sounds like a fake VST amp plugin from the early 2Ks.

It's possible you just EQ'd your older clip some more.

The general midrange, however, is close.

But that's the only aspect (the midrange) that bears any resemblance to the original Accept track.

BALLS count: 1 Balls for midrange content + .5 Balls for low end balls -1 Balls for lack of juicy balls = .5 Balls out of 5 Balls

My own opinion about my own clip?

It's decent. In the ballpark. But the mids need work (there's a mids "honk" that is missing).

But it's got balls. Multitracked juicy balls.

BALLS count: 3 Balls out of 5 Balls

Again dude - no need to flex. we all know you do this for a living. I fully admit:

#1 I don't have quite the right gain. A little bit much, but just a little bit. My Wampler Plexi pedal probably a better choice than the actual VS100
#2 I also need to tweak the delay, or the global reverb by using a plate. There is a bit of a hollow thing I'm missing.
#3 I need to drop the treble at the amp, also...
#4 I'd like to have a really cool detailed mid control there, or mess with a graphic EQ. I might be able to use the zoom for the graphic, but I'd have had to move boxes and cables. I could read a garage nabs manual too. Nah.

I understand that in the grand scheme of things, I have a much more aggressive ear presence for treble, and distortion.

But, for basically a one time knob set, followed by three recordings, of which the first did not involve listening to the record, the second for more than moment and realizing "oh $#!t, reverb!", and the final about 5 minutes of tinkering blindly through software I don't really know how to use....

a) Consensus is I got pretty close
b) I'm not known for this, you are
c) IT WASN'T THAT HARD

I honestly don't care what you think of it. I know I could replicate that sound on any stage, anywhere, anytime and people would think it sounded good. You didn't think I could get in the same zip code, let alone in the stadium, or even the field. I did. And you yourself didn't exactly hit a triple. But again - that's ok. You are the one losing your mind and obsessing over your own less than perfect work. Which I think sounds pretty ok.

This is just what you get from me in ~20 minutes, which is probably 10% of all my recording time in my whole life.

You guys should rub your balls together and make up.

Allow me to correct you on some things:

- No flexing here
- I don't do this for a living
- Don't project; I'm not losing my mind nor obsessing (I removed my original clip from soundcloud over a month ago because I needed room for new clips)
- "consensus" = Beer$ being nice

You wanted to play this game; in fact, you virtually tapped me on the shoulder with this:

I even verified with you first if it was okay to proceed.

So whoop - there it is. My critique of your balls; which you practically begged for.

When the thread was about ways to get a particular sound, it was interesting. When it became one guy challenging the other to measure penises, then it became a useless joke.

Regardless of who/what/why/when, competition brings out the best.

Or are you one of those who grew up during the time when every kid got a trophy?

And sometimes, it reveals inconvenient truths. Especially truths hidden by the usual veil of internet anonymity.

Ace wanted to play the game; he opened his yapper and slapped down his gauntlet.

No one involved will be scarred for life.
