Acoustic stuff, whale-music, harp harmonics, fun

Here's a song I wrote a while back called "delirium". The recording is about a year and a half to two years old...I'm planning on re-recording it soon so I can polish it up a bit. I'll provide two versions...the instrumental and the vocal versions. I'm not really the worlds greatest vocalist, nor the greatest keyboarist...but I try my best ;).

so, hell, check it out :).

Was pretty simple actually, just used my neck pickup, rolled the tone knob down all the way, used my fingers, and slapped a bunch of delay and reverb on it. Throw in a few slow bends, and let everything ring out real nice...and boom. It can also sound real cool when you use a pick and a volume pedal...get the whole "swell" effect.

I'm very impressed! And thanks for telling us how you did it!

I´m just listening to the instrumental version and it sounds fantastic to me!!!

Gotta check the vocal version out.

How did you record it?? Sounds as if you did it in the studio!

Edit: Super vocals!!! Gotta download it..very cool man :headbang:

I actually just plugged my taylor 310CE into my audigy 2 Platnium sound card for all the acoustic stuff (strumming, harp harmonics, etc). The recording program I used was Magix audio stuido 6 (cheap, but effective). I recorded this back before I had my line 6 POD, so for the "whale music" I think I just plugged my ibanez AX220QM straight into the computer, with the neck pickup engaged and tone rolled down all the way. I used magix's built in delay and a cakewalk reverb plugin.

As for the keyboards, I've got a little keyboard/midi controller that goes into an alesis nanopiano synth...thingie...(I'm no keyboard player...this thing was actually my sister's before I got my hands on it ;) ). Thats somthing that I'd really like to start working on though...always wanted to learn how to play the keyboards.

The vox was just an SM58 w/ a pop filter in front of it...I couldn't afford any quality studio mics back then...in fact...I still cant :laugh2:. I did put a little autotune on it in a couple of different places...but the majority of it is clean. I like using autotune as little as humanly possible.

that is really good, I was not that good at 19

I play alot of acoustic stuff like that, kinda makes me want to buy recording stuff; that sounds professional man!

Re: Acoustic stuff, whale-music, harp harmonics, fun

To be honest I was about 17 when I recorded that...doesn't seem like that long ago though.

It doesn't take all too much to get a fairly-good recording...just a nice input into the comp, a cheap recording program, and the right preamps. I gotta say, that I do kinda like the sound I can get out of my taylor 310CE by just plugging in direct. The fishman preamp in there is pretty badass.

WOW! That was simply amazing, seriously. Sound very very professional...

You've got alot of potential!

Re: Acoustic stuff, whale-music, harp harmonics, fun

I was actually afraid of posting it on here a while back cause I thought I didn't do a good enough job recording it...maybe I should cut myself some slack, huh? :laugh2:

Thanks for all the kind responses :).
