Thought some of the Tool-heads out there might like this. Some fuzzy cell phone photos of Adam Jones' and Justin Chancellor's pedalboards as photographed on the night of the last show of this summer's tour.

I found another pic of Adam's pedalboard (ALSO a bad cell phone pic) for comparison to pick out some pedals just to see what he's using, but I don't know how recent it is.

The first two shots are the recent pics of Adam's and Justin's board, respectively. The third shot is the undated photo of Adam's board. Enjoy!

In that top pic, I think the EQ looks like the DOD FX-40B Equalizer.

Second unit looks like the Boss BF3 Flanger

Third unit kinda looks like a Boss Digital Delay DD-2 with the blue knobs on it.

Probably one of the only bands on Earth where the bassist's board is bigger than the guitarist's.

Adam uses an Epilady on "Sober." No joke.

Hey dude! I was kinda hoping this thread would get your attention!

Is that also how he's getting those horrible-sounding squeals in the bridge of Stinkfist?

I think Adam's total board is more like three times the size of what's shown in the pic. In addition to that Roland synth pedal you can see a bit of he had a whole other board with other stuff on it, but I was too far away to see what it was. I think what's on the pictured board plus his amps are really his core sound, though.

Justin made great use of all his toys... did a fair bit of looping, as well during the show. He's just as busy as Adam is most of the time.

Are you talking about the section that starts around 2:30? That's all BF-2, feedback and pick scrapes. Not an Epilady in sight.

Oh, and as for Adam's amp rig, it used to be a Marshall Bassman, a Mesa and a Diezel, but he ditched the Mesa and replaced it with another Diezel. Mad backline. I did well with a Single Rec, honestly, but having a Diezel would have been king.

BTW, I'm quite sure that's a BF-2, not a HF-2. The BF-3 does well in that regard, but I haven't had the opportunity to try my rig with a BF-2, so I'm not sure of the nuances. I'd like to throw a BF-2 in my board to hear the difference, but then I'd probably get the tribute bug again and pine away for the past.

Anyone want to start a Tool tribute? Sh1t.

Or, start a band that doesn't bottom feed off Tool. I mean Adam isn't bad, but getting to his level is shooting low IMO.

Just sayin. They're a lucky band with some great imagery, but there's no genius going on. I couldn't give a F what crappy Boss pedals he's using.

Really.

If you don't think Danny and Justin are excellent players then you haven't really listened to Tool.
