Adjusting JB PolePieces.

I just went out and bought a JB to drop in the bridge of my Epi. Les Paul. I was looking for a tone close to the Dookie era of Green Day (ducks!). I put it in and all that, but I found that the pickup is very dark, and metal sounding. I know it has something to do with the pole pieces, and pickup height, I just dont know what to adjust them to.
