Hi folks,
I recently acquired a 1988 Heritage VIP2. This is kind of a strat with (a very hard) mahogany body, mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. It has two Schaller humbuckers and various switches to put the bridge pickup out of phase and to tap the coils of both neck and bridge p.u.'s To make things complete it has a Kahler 2300 pro tremolo and the whole thing invites to play Jeff Beck sounds.
I play a Carvin Legacy combo. The guitar has a strat scale.
The Schallers are allright, but they tend to feed back when I use my Fulltone Fulldrive to get the most sustain. I have a feeling the body wood is so hard that I miss some warmth. The guitar is very precise, but lacks the blues.
Does anybody have an idea which Duncans would bring out more music from this wonderful instrument? For instance the SHPR-1 (P-90's plus rails that make up humbuckers)? Would that work well with this hard body?
I'd be happy to read your suggestions.
Thanks
