affordable tube amps

Re: affordable tube amps

Traynor YCV20. 20 watt tube combo, 1x12" Celestion, 2x EL84 tubes and 3x 12ax7 tubes, Really clean looking combo. And Probably one of the cheapest and best value small tube amp I know of. Its not going to do alot of high gain metal sounds though, but It does a really nice vintage crunch, aswell as some respectable cleans.
They are prolly a little more than you expected new, but Im sure with some poking around you could get one used for alot less.

I'm definitely a tube amp bigot but for bedroom-level practice, I'd really suggest a SS/modeling amp. IMHO, very few tube amps sound good at bedroom practice volume levels. Those that do aren't very useful for much else because of their very low power.

+1

If it's just a bedroom/practice amp, you can't go wrong with a modelling amp. WAY more reasonable, and better sounding at true bedroom levels.
