I've got 83'and 84' SQ Squires. Just wanted to let you know,When I
changed the pots on my Squire's to CTS pots I had to ream the pick
guard a little. No biggie Just thought I'd give ya a heads up they
might not just drop in. If is it's a JV (japanese vintage) Strat you have?
Take good care of it!! I perdict in a few years they will be worth
over a Grand !! I see em' on ebay going for $600 $700 now!!

Before you go to all the trouble of replacing parts, get some Caig Labs Deoxit and squirt it, (sparingly), into all the controls. Then wiggle them about a bit.
I'll bet you dollars to donuts it'll be good to go for another 20 years.

No, it's E81****. I checked out mr. gearhead and it said that it's for 82-87, so I decided to take the neck off and find out. I didnt know they stamped Japanise Squires, but they apparently do. Both say Aug 1983. I just changed the pots, and had to clear out a little room w/ my pocket knife. I installed some that I have from 73 (imagine that) with the TBX control on the Neck an Mid pickups and the regular tone on the bridge. Switch is also from 73. I love this thing. 'Cept for the vintage frets, when they finally get worn enough to replace 'em, I'm gonna go w/ med jumbo. Or Fenders "new vintage" It's supposed to be vintage sized but it's not. It's bigger, like on MIM standards. I like it.

Donuts? mmmmmm....Donuts. I'm gonna stay up till 4, go get some donuts, hit the sack, and get up at 8 to go to Astroworld. Woo hoo!
