After a long wait finally a NGD!!

So I've been in the process of wanting a new guitar just not dropping the cash for one. A mixture of not knowing what to get and just general trying to save. Well I went to GC today and set $500 as my budget. I tried two Gibson LP Jr specials with the P-90 soapbars, a Gibby SG Faded, a PRS SE SingleCut P-90, and a few Epiphon Dots. Of all of them the only ones I really cared for sound wise were the Epi's and even then I didn't want throw down $400 then atleast another $100 for a decent case. I left defeated then went to the local Music Go Round just to see. What do I see hanging on the wall? A natural Epi Dot with a hardshell case for $300. I plugged her in and she sounded lovely even on a crappy Line 6. Plus with the hardshell it was a no brainer. Has one little scratch on the very back and a few on the neck mounting ring but other than that it looks brand new. I love the sound and feel of a semi I just wish the Gibbys weren't so damn pricey. I would like to also grab an Ibanez single cut version but have no idea how they are. Anyway here are some pics.

Nice. I have a natural Epi Dot too, with a fat 1958 mahogany neck. Got a deal on it used, and put in a pair of Seth's. I'm very pleased with it. 335's just seem to feel good and sound good, and especially when they only cost 10% of what a Gibson 335 does.

That's my problem with a Gibson. You can grab a decent Gibson LP for not to much more than a higher end Epi LP but good luck on doing with with a 335 style guitar. The difference just really isn't worth it, they're crazy expensive for even a bare bones one. I haven't gotten to really crank it yet but hopefully tomorrow I can. I just feel like this style suits me more than any other.

Nice axe, I own one myself, enjoy! I agree about the price difference between an Epi 335 and a Gibson, I went against my own logic and my wife's good common sense and purchased a Gibson ES335 last year, just had to own a nice hollowbody with a Gibson logo on the headstock.....

Well I have bad news. When I actually got to take it out and clean it I noticed about 3 cracks on the binding, one of which was a pretty sizable crack in the wood itself. After some mulling over I decided to take it back and the store was cool about it because it was a little tough to see. I tried out many a guitar at GC and nothing clicked so I went to my local guitar shop and played some Tele's, ESP's, and other things and I stumbled on a used Gibson Les Paul Special in a honey brown type color. I plugged it in and was blown away. It played amazingly, didn't go out of tune after tons of bends, and overall felt and looked great. It was a little over my budget but I got it anyway. I brought a gig bag just in case I was picking something up and as I was checking out another employee saw it and said it came with a hardshell case so it balanced out. I love this thing.

I'd like to check one out as well, I do not own a singlecut Les Paul style guitar, getting more curious by the minute....

It's a great guitar and for the price of them on the used market they really can't be beat. The thing doesn't go out of tune no matter how hard I try and it plays so easy. I think I'm a Gibson convert.

The Epi was a nice looking guitar but that Paul should be a real tone machine... all you need in a guitar, enjoy it!
