aggro tone! Fender Brownface 1963 Vibroverb is the sh*t

Ever played a 1963 Fender 40W Brownface Vibroverb with dual 10" Jensens? Even the 1993 reissue with Jensens is incredible.

Holy Hell it's scalded dog and way warmer reverb! I guess it was before it's time as Fender switched to blackface the next year and cleaner.

So gritty and punchy -so much damn tone..

I'm running stereo the 63 Vibroverb with a 68 Deluxe RI with G70V (for that top end chime and deep scoop) and damn it's glorious.

no, it's just much less dark than what you expect from a typical fender reverb tank

I have not done a brownface (but I'd like to).

I do have a '66 Deluxe all stock with original glass, though.

Like to try a Tweed Deluxe as well.

They all sound great cranked (but keep that bass low).

when they first started making the browns in '60 the controls were bass treble volume speed intensity, hence center volume amps. the pro, super, and bandmaster are all basically the same circuit but the 3x10 speaker configuration and mismatched output tranny (4ohm with 2.67ohm load) of the bandmaster is the one i was playing. i have a 5e7 (tweed bandmaster) clonish amp thats great but the brown circuit tightens things up a bit but still has the awesome mids that are lost in the bf/sf amps.
