Whats the deal on AGILE guitars , was thinking of getting one of the 3010se models , any good vs a cheap Epiphone les paul 100 .

Re: Agile Guitars

My experience with them has been as follows:

Bought two guitars from them (both AL2000) about 12 years ago.

One was absolutely amazing... I regret selling it to this day. It was freaking heavy but sounded and played gorgeous, had very good p90s in it.

The second one was sub-par. Dry fretboard, ok frets, bland sounding humbuckers, I couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

So yeah, they can put out great guitars and I assume their higher-level guitars (not available back then) must be good for the price they charge. However, they can also turn-out dogs...

Re: Agile Guitars

I've had a few Agiles, they're more or less equal to Epiphones in quality. I've seen them praised as being as good as Gibsons, which is an exaggeration. The ones I've seen in the 3000+ series still have the cheap 'mystery box' toggle switches, which are terrible. I see Agiles as one of the many Asian imports of good quality. The 3000+ series Agile are similar to set neck Epi's.

Re: Agile Guitars

I'll agree with that - basically an Epiphone level instrument. Some slightly better ones available for more $

But yeah - do not be an Agile = Gibson idiot. They are not.

Re: Agile Guitars

I had heard great things about Agiles. But yes, the good as, or better than Gibsons are a stretch.. I actually found a couple of the 2000 series in local stores/pawn shops over the last few months and was impressed. Again, not equal to or better than a good Gibson, but darn good guitars for the money. Def in the Epiphone camp of quality.

I wish there was guitars of this quality and in that price range when I started out...

Re: Agile Guitars

We await pics of your new Agile. Don't hesitate if that's in the price range you want to spend. I might get one before an epiphone, and as with epiphone, I'd likely upgrade pickups.

Anyway - pics - what are you thinking about???

Re: Agile Guitars

Kinda knocked the wind out of my sails , shipping is $166 dollars on top then u need a case too , anyhow got my eye on anther Michael Kelly so fingers crossed end of the month .

Re: Agile Guitars

Some look awesome, too bad one has to pay the taxes importing from USA, while there could be some way to order directly from Korea.

Re: Agile Guitars

Some of those things are just ridiculous!!! We have a Agile dealer about an hour south of where we live & I'd say they are pretty much on par with Epi.'s, perhaps a bit nicer? Of course any of the ones that I tried were setup before they were put on display so I can't speak to their quality out of the box.

LOL, the other guy who plays guitar in my band bought some god awful 10 string monstrosity on a trip we took down there because, well because it was a god awful 10 string monstrosity & reasonably cheap... (LOL, good luck trying to find new pickups for that thing, LOL!!!)

Anyway, he recorded some stuff with it when the novelty was still fresh but it definitely wasn't the most practical guitar in the world. He played around with it for about 2 weeks before deciding it was just kinda silly & it's just been hanging on his wall since then...
