Alder vs mahogany

Hello! I was looking for some help deciding what kind of wood to use for a guitar ongoing to r pitting together. Either alder or mahogany for a tele style body with two humbuckers. A phat cat in the neck and a jb in the bridge. I want this to be styled for pop punk like four year strong, state champs, and bands like that. I play through a rockerverb 50 MKII through an orange 4x12 with v30's.

But since you say you want a JB i'm more inclined to say Alder but I like Alder better than Mahogany so i'm a bit biased.

I am also inclined to say alder, but I am biased in that I much prefer the JB in Alder than in Mahogany.

Still, neck and fretboard woods also need to be considered at the same time as the body woods. If you want a dark sounding guitar, you probably shouldn't pick an alder body with a maple neck and ebony fretboard, for example.

The JB is suited far better for naturally bright and tight guitars imo. The Phat Cat has an A2, so that would also be a pretty warm sounding pup. So I'd put my money on alder.

I'm just looking for something punchy with the jb. Probably going to go with a rosewood or ebony fingerboard

Can't go wrong with maple neck, rosewood board and an alder body . . .

Mahogany body (tele thickness) - maple neck/rosewood board combo makes for a pretty balanced sounding guitar too, IME. All mahogany body and neck combo is different story.

By deafult I would go with Alder,assuming it is a bolt on construction and a 25.5 scale length. JB tends not to work well with Mahogany/ Gibson style guitars.

Can I throw Ash into the mix ,classic tele wood , I have only ever had 1 JB, first in a Tasmanian Blackwood guitar - which nearly put me off the JB entirely but in Ash WOW \m/

Alder = bright, light
Mahogany = warm, heavy

IMO, JB sounds best in alder, especially with a Maple neck with Rosewood fretboard...

How does ash compare to alder? I have an ash body from guitar fetish
