Re: All that glitters is gold
matching sparkle headstock? bad. ass.
Yep...
I snagged a Charvel promod neck last year off eBay cheap and at first, I thought I might do an '80's star guitar, but I already have so many tele bodies on the shelf.
One had enough room to accommodate the 2 1/4" neck, and we were off to the races. I wasn't sure what the plan was going to be, just that I did not want two humbuckers (like almost all "rock" teles). I don't have another BG1400 pickup, but I do have one more tapped Tele bridge. I was leaning Esquire then found a TV Jones Classic bridge pup...
Normally the
Seymour Duncan 53 Tapped Tele uses a 5-way switch but I did not have anywhere to do that without a standard plate. I decided on a coil tap tone where the 3-way toggle would normally go and then move the toggle to the upper horn.
Layout and drill pilot hole.
A Forstner bit and stepped channel bit from the rear
Learning from the previous sparkle paint job mistakes, I chose a lacquer base color that matched.
This allowed me two use only two cans of glitter (might have been able to use even one, but why chance it)
While we are at it, why not match the headstock.
Several hours of careful scraping later
Now just laying down the clear.
