It has got me thinking that I've never taken a group shot of my Strats. I'd be interested in seeing other Strat group shots.
Here are mine:
Refin. '59 body with '80's MIJ neck - '85 or '86 MIJ - 2005 MIM - '93 or '94 MIJ
Red one has unidentified pickups that are the most amazing sounding Strat pickups I've ever heard. They may be from the same guitar as the neck. The middle and bridge cover are probably '60's, as they probably would not have yellowed if they were '59 parts.
White one (my first guitar) has 57/62's. I am in the middle of refretting and refinishing the neck, but I hit a stopping point, so I bolted it back on until I set aside a few days to work on it.
MIM is stock.
Blue one has original neck p/u, a mid-60's Duo Sonic middle p/u, and I thought the bridge was a Duo Sonic p/u too, but it obviously is not. I just found the other pickup from the Duo Sonic mounted in another guard that I have lying around. So the bridge p/u is currently a mystery to me...as are the other two p/us in that other guard!
Some pix of the Frankenstein Strat:
The 6/59 body and pick guard (oddball 9-hole transitional guard) are the only original parts. Unfortunately it used to have a Kahler, and has been refinished about four times. I am going to strip it, use alder to fill the bad putty work that covered the Kahler hole, and then repaint it Dakota Red (maybe with a sunburst underneath, depending on what I find when I strip it). Eventually I'll get a better looking neck to go on it (no silly-looking yellow poly).
