Allen heads replacing flat heads

I want more clarity from the neck pickup. I originally was considering replacing the screws in a neck 59 with Allen heads. I expect that will happen. Then it occurred to me to do the same thing with the JB in the 5150 homage guitar. I am just curious how pronounced the difference will be. I want a lot more bite from the 59 so its unlikely to be too much but the JB just needs a subtle bump. That could end up way over the top...

Whats your experience with going to the Allen head poles?

shorter screws are easy, finding the right size for allen head without messing up threads on those might be tricky

I've done it to the JB. I used the polepieces that came off a Duncan/Ibanez Distortion (not the Duncan Designed/IBZ), so it's the same poles they use for the Full Shred. I don't think it radically transforms the pickup, at least with those particular polepieces. It still sounds like a JB, just with a little less low-end, which brings the attack forward. If you want a subtle bump, I think it may work. If you don't like the JB as is and want to fix it, I'd look at other solutions.
