Alnico 2 pro or pearly gates?

I'm looking to replace the 59reissue in the neck position of my Washburn Idol wi66. It has the VCC fitted so something that sounds good tapped would be great. It has a TB-11 Custom Custom in the bridge and as I prefer Alnico 2 pickups, it all boils down to these two. Which one and why? Thanks people.

They are both pretty cool. The PG is a bit fatter and deeper sounding than the APH. The APH is a bit more articulate in the treble. Can't go wrong with either. It just depends on what you'd prefer.

Ummm - did you get that backwards?

The A2P matches and gets what I call "Fat City" The highs are just big and round in both positions. Great match. The Mids also go together.

The PG is a great contrast pup. The PG/CC has some amazing clean sounds that be blended every which way with the PG adding a bit of cut to the CC.

But yeah - can't miss either way, but A2P and PG are way different creatures.

the PG bridge can easily go in the neck, plus that way splitting would sound fuller

anyway, is just matter of what you want, smooth warmt or fluid roundy highs

I prefer the A2P as I thought it was smoother than the PGn. The PGn has a sizzle that I didn't like at all. I like my neck pick ups fat, smooth and creamy. The A2P is great for that.

I personally love the A2P and have been using one for years in one of my guitars. It has a well rounded sound. I find the lows to be big but clear, the mids are not too much and the highs are smooth yet articulate. I love it.

A2P's official Seymour Duncan tone chart numbers for Bass/Mid/Treble are:

Bass: 7
Mids: 4
Treble: 8

For the PG the numbers are:

Bass: 6
Mids: 5
Treble: 9

+1. My second favorite Duncan PU. Bridge and neck are well-matched EQ-wise.

What he said. The AIIP is a "slimmer" sounding pickup, and IMO cleans up better.
