To answer a usefull question about alnico 8 .
To my experience thoses magnets have different qualities and wiknesses :
*Ceramic : the most powerfull but often he highs are harsh and fizzy
*Alnico 5 : less powerfull , punchy attack and clarity , tight basses and bity treebles but often there are scooped mids that make treebles too bity ,and if the pickup is overwounded enough it sound hollow and can't cut ( think C5 )
*Alnico 2 : even less powerfull , and the opposite of alnico 5 :lots of mids from low mids to mids . But soft and spongy bass and creamy highs ; no punch here .
So alnico 8 get the best of those three :
nearly as powerfull as ceramic , punchy and clear like alnico 5 , with a lot of mids like alnico 2 .
After , results depend on what pickup you put it in : mine is a Screming Demon witch is already punchy and clear , but in a p-u with already a lot of bass like Custom with the added low mids in could be a bit muddy in some guitars .
