Would it be possible to make any worthwhile judgement through inductance? Ie, putting the magnet in, take a reading, compare to the next, and so?

I swear I've got some A5 rods mixed in with A2 rods (own fault), but as they're small compared to a bar, I'm not so sure I could do the fridge test that well :-S

The variation of iron between grades raising, or lowering inductance? Even if you could, I'm now guessing there'd be too many other variables involved anyway. I do mark mine now when they arrive, but it appears that psuedo Sharpies from Poundland might not be up to the job :-S

The ones with "indelible ink" are up to the task. But even those might fail on some roughcast mags, so have this in mind as well.
