Can somebody tell me the difference and how you would compare the Alnico II Pro vs. the gibson 57' classic plus pickup?

Can you make both pickups a single coil as well?

Thanks,
kidboy

p.s. I'm thinking about putting them in my gibson les paul classic

Re: Alnico II Pro vs. gibson 57' classic plus

The '57 classic plus has a single conductor lead with a braided shield, so you couldn't coil tap it unless you replaced the lead; the A2P has a four conductor lead. Tone-wise the '57+ is like a slightly hotter '59 with less clarity. The A2P will be slightly less hot, but smoother with fuller midrange and softer highs. I like it for neck position soloing while I prefer a Jazz model for cleans. A '59 is a good compromise between the two. I have an A2P in the neck of my 'Paul and a Custom in the bridge.
