Alnico II Pro's... fake?

Saw a post, someone somewhat local selling a pair of Alnico II Pro's from a 2008 Slash Les Paul, pretty cheap... would those have the little slash cartoon image on the back? or is there a way to tell if real/fake?

Less than half what I see them sell for normally, and find it a bit weird to buy a Slash Les Paul, and replace the pickups.... most people buy the Slash model, because of the pickups (more or less).

I have an Agile AL-2000 that plays amazing, I own 2 actually and the other doesn't play near as well as this one, and the plan was always to swap the pickups and pots, but the Alnico II's were always outta budget. If the real deal, I think I'll get them because photo looks good, and 1/3 the cost of new.

Photos are the fronts only, so no idea what the back looks like, emailed and asked... I can see that the leads are black, not metal woven.

Re: Alnico II Pro's... fake?

Post any photos here, so we might be able to help. They should have stickers on the back with model numbers, etc.

Re: Alnico II Pro's... fake?

They wouldn't have the Slash logo on the back. The APH-2 Slash pickups came out in 2010, so it should have APH-1 Alnico II Pro pickups, and should have stickers on the back identifying them as such

Re: Alnico II Pro's... fake?

Don’t think the Slash LP has any coil splits, so the wires shouldn’t be black/4-conductor, I would expect they should be braided 2-conductor.

Re: Alnico II Pro's... fake?

Asked the guy for a photo of the back, because lives 2h away... but 20min from where my friend lives so may have him pick them up for me... which is why hoping to hear back from the guy with a photo. I think legit... he's selling a few pickups, including a boxed set of bareknuckles that are a bit more in price.

I have an Agile AL-2000, nice rootbeer burst, plays great... hoping to get sorta closer to his (Slash) tone. Not exactly, I don't have his rig or ability but, just wanting to upgrade the guts of the guitar and looking to grab these, Bourns pots and 0.022uf caps. I think that's what he more-or-less has in his LP copy (since the guitar he records with isn't actually a Gibson).

Re: Alnico II Pro's... fake?

If you are talking about the guy in the toronto area, i have bought a lot of gear off him hes a nice guy who does a lot of buying and selling and his prices are good . All his stuff is legit and his add you are refering to for the duncans are legit regular alnico 2 pros that he took out of his 08 slash les paul. So if you want them msg him and grab them they are legit

Re: Alnico II Pro's... fake?

Ha... literally 2min before your reply he messaged to say sorry, sold...

Shoulda just said I'll take them, but, wanted to know if legit or not because woulda been my buddy picking them up for me not myself, so I wouldn't be able to look until too late.

Re: Alnico II Pro's... fake?

Ya, said he wasn't home yesterday and sold them all except 2 set of EMG's... not sure how if not at home though, but doesn't matter I guess, the hunt continues.

I wanna upgrade with the Alnico Pro's or Slash Pro's... but can't warrant the price of them new here in Canada. Literally cost more than the guitar. :D
