Yes, I have. I tried that pickup in the bridge and neck spots of a Dean Z. Results: better than stock, to my tastes, anyhow. More balanced e.q., not as "blocky" sounding, and hits the amp a little less hard. But still is in the same general neighborhood as A5. I view A4 as Diet A5. If you really want to significantly tame the output and stiffness of A5, try A3 as opposed to A4.
