Alright, Enough of "The Guess What It Is" Threads

Re: Alright, Enough of "The Guess What It Is" Threads

Summer's Eve boy...To a lot of us you're still a noob. 2010? I've got strings and picks older than you.

This isnt UMD's first rodeo... I'm really surprised that you could forget the charm that was the now perma banned Yngwiestein.

Re: Alright, Enough of "The Guess What It Is" Threads

We should have a "Guess What Thread The Mods Will Close Down Next" thread.

Re: Alright, Enough of "The Guess What It Is" Threads

Is this some kind of a discussion about something ?

Re: Alright, Enough of "The Guess What It Is" Threads

I'm gonna keep posting 'em - BTW, I'm old too!

If you don't like it - feel free to ignore the thread....

Re: Alright, Enough of "The Guess What It Is" Threads

Too many annoying "guess what it is" threads lately. I understand the excitement of getting new gear, but these kinds of threads are so hackneyed, especially the ones who make you go through the hassle of following it just to find out it's a Peavey Bandit or something. Post a review, pics, audio, video or something and include the specs so no one has to ask which version or model it is. It's to the point where it's juvenile and irritating. We need better threads in this forum.

Just one question and I swear I am not trying to be argumentative or troll you. What is wrong with a Peavey Bandit? I don't have one but I have had Peavey practice amps in the past and they were great. I wouldn't mind having a cool little 1x12 Bandit combo in my arsenal at all.

Get one. Try to get a silver stripe Sheffield equipped Transtube version, those seem to be the best and made in the USA.

Or get a Supreme XL (which is the head version) or XXL (adds the Ultra channel.)

Re: Alright, Enough of "The Guess What It Is" Threads

Im prolly gonna make a "guess what I bought" thread for every little purchase that I make!!! that is the protocol round here it seems.

and then make a separate thread once I get it with a pic

and then make a separate thread to review the little purchase after a week of using it :)

I think he meant that its a common enough amp that its not worth having a big reveal for, and less about its quality. That's what I took from it anyway.

Re: Alright, Enough of "The Guess What It Is" Threads

There's some stuff Jessie got that I have no idea what it was - it went on for so long I stopped opening the thread. But whatever, some people like to play hard to get, ok.

I will say this though - you get a piece of gear you do up a clip. No excuse not to be able to record something quick these days - any phone will do, even your grandma's rotary. The 14 paragraph bogner reviews were eloquent but the clips you're doing now tell a lot more.

yes! people buy gear, and sometimes it just sits as collectors itemz...

So we should stop doing NAD for Marshall JMC 800s, Fender Twins or NGD for Les Paul Traditionals? Because around here I think you would fine a lot more of them than you would find Peavey Bandits. There is a ton off common gear around here, how many NPD Soul Food threads are there on this board? Life is too sort. Anyone can post anything they want IMO if I don't think te thread is worth commenting on, I don't participate in the thread. Like now I am bowing out, see you guys on the flip side.

It was the first amp I ever owned. I hated it so much but it was the only amp I could afford at the time. It was eventually replaced with a Crate tube amp which was awesome, but we're talking way back in the early to mid 90's.

Re: Alright, Enough of "The Guess What It Is" Threads

I hate those types of threads as well.

Re: Alright, Enough of "The Guess What It Is" Threads

My first amp was a Sears. Absolutely sucked. My second amp was a Randall RG-80, which distorted sounded pretty good. I had a Crate in the 90's. It had a real Telefunken tube in the distortion channel. Only that sounded good. Everything else about it pretty much sucked. After that I bought a Marshall and haven't looked back.

So what has 4 legs, 24 poles and more copper than a penny?

Re: Alright, Enough of "The Guess What It Is" Threads

Okay: What kind of pick did I just find on the floor? Winner gets bragging rights, which no amount of money on Earth can buy!

Seriously, though, sometimes you just want to milk a $12 pedal for as much fun as you can squeeze out of it. Sometimes that means ridiculous guessing games. Sometimes it means duct taping it to an old Stomper Water Demon and chasing the cat with it. I guess if bad came to worse, you could play through it. But that's generally a last resort where gear and limited time are involved. I'm painting the spare bedroom right now; playing is the last thing I have time for. It definitely takes a back seat to checking out Brooks Wheelan's photos of Europe on Instagram.
