Re: Alright, Who's Put In Their Custom UGD Pickups?
Alright, since I had no idea this thread was even around, and Brenden sent it to me in a PM, I'll make him happy and post about my pickup.
Alright, first, this pickup is purely Ant I. Everything about it, from the bobbin, to the wire, to the mags and gauss, and the cover as well. Along w/ the cloth leads. It's wound to about 10.5K, give or take a few .00's. The gauss is about 35 or so, atleast that's whats written on my box. I also requested that a baseplate be put on it to even out the bottom end and make it seem more promenant, which is needed in a bridge pickup of a strat. Now, the high end is very crystaline, very sharp, but not ice picky. Very Buddy Holly if you set the amp right. The mids just jump out at you, there's a nice mid peak in this pickup. You could deff. play lead with this thing and not hurt anyones ears. Now the bass on this thing is what ties it all together. It's not too boomy, but it's not lacking at all. It basically takes all the good of a strat pickup, ropes it all together, and holds it there. I'm sure that the A2 mags help in this little bit, but I cant be completely sure since I've yet to hear an A5 version of my pickup. If you want a visual idea of what this pickup sounds like, imagine a Texas Hot, then put a spare tire around the waist

My only complaint, and it is a very very very very small one about this pickup is that I wish the baseplate could've been Dun-aged as well, so that it ties in with the whole vintage theme, but it's not like I'm about to stop playing it, or even remotely think about doing so because of the point. That's my take on the pickup. Hopefully one of these days I can get a recording up and let you guys hear for yourself, but until then, my review will have to suffice.
