Alt 8 for extreme metal with clarity and punch?

I've been intrigued by a lot I've heard about this pickup, touting 'balance, clarity, punch' etc.

Been described as a tighter, clearer JB type of feel.

Anyone used this for a metal application? Looking for percussive feel without losing definition.

I usually don't like super high output, my friend has one of these laying around and if it has potential to be great I'll give it a shot-

Going in a warm/balanced sounding alder neck through V w floyd rose.

Definitely try it. I don't play "extreme metal", but I find the Alt 8 very versatile, tight hard hitting bass, strong but not obnoxious highs, very good mids, clean but able to really drive an amp.

I like the Alt 8 a LOT in the right guitar. They punch like crazy and are big round and tight but not honky or shrill. Very articulate and clear pickup under gain and would be worth a try in that V!

You can not go wrong with that choice.
