Alternative 8 in a Les Paul?

Anybody tried an Alternative 8 in a Les Paul?

From what I've read, the Alt8 is like a "beefier" JB... Meaning it's got more low end but same mids and highs?

The Duncan Custom is still is my fave LP Bridge pup so far, and was thinking of getting a Custom/59 hybrid as my next bridge pup, but I have an opportunity to get a good deal for an Alt8

My impression is that it's actually darker than the JB, lacking that certain level of raspy top end bite that the JB has. I think the Alt8 is also slightly stiffer, colder sounding. Not quite as much of a juicy crunch like the JB.

Is it significantly darker?

No, I'd say only noticeable in side-by-side comparisons
I've been listening to the sound clips on the website - specifically the dirty, rock clips... and the Alt8 sounded brighter, and worryingly "scooped" vs the JB. I like bright bridge pickups but I don't like a scooped sound. What are your thoughts on the mids of the Alt8?

Took the plunge. I'll try to hook it up in my LP Trad over the weekend. It will be paired with my fave neck pup - the APH1
