well im glad i decided to get this pickup again.
i knew it could be the closest thing imo to a full organic passive EMG style tone!
at first when i put it into some of the old mixes were i had other pickups the first thing i noticed was it didnt
have the bass wubby speaker talk low end that i heard very prominently in say the super distortion & sh-5.
this pickup has all the bad parts of the signal taken out! it didnt sound right at first because i wasnt dealing with a massive low end associated with bassy ceramic style pickups.
i love how i can crank the treble on my amp and the pickup resists getting all white noisey and overall losing signal clarity.
the low end is nice cause i can add low end on my amp and it doesnt get all speaker talky in that range.
the leads and so fat! they give out the same thickness at all times now matter how hard im picking.
the rhythm's are a sleeper among metal guys i think. you cant setup your amp to the pickups like i mentioned and expect the alt8 to just sound like the rest of them. its special and needs a little more ear for height and overall amp sound.
i hope this clip does it justice cause its an amazing achievement by seymour to get a alnico 8 to sound thick and clear without the regular scratchy/grating upper mids it sometimes gives to other pickups.
cleans, i dont need them, id rather use neck pickup for that.
peace!
