Alternative to Duncan 78

Re: Alternative to Duncan 78

I've tried a lot of HSS setups in strats, using vintage singles. The Jazz Bridge was probably my favorite. It's tight, balanced, has a natural sounding voice much like single coils.

It's true that Seymour likes the Jazz in HSS setups. It's also very underrated because SD always marketed the JB/Jazz set for HH setups, when the Jazz/Jazz is a beautifully calibrated set.

the Jazz/Jazz is a beautifully calibrated set.

My experience with the Jazz set was a bit too bright for my needs.

Putting an A4 in the neck and an A8 in the bridge got the warmth I was looking for in the neck p'up and got the bridge p'up a vocal-like quality it didn't have stock.

Isn't there another variation of the EVH pickup available from the Custom shop that is higher resistance with an AII, more like a Custom Custom?

Re: Alternative to Duncan 78

Is it A2 or A5?

Thx

Manza

A factory Jazz is always A5. An Alnico 2 Pro is the same wind with an A2.

Yeah there's the Franky Custom...a clone of the pup currently in it. Thing is that it will have worse balance, not better. Besides he's not looking for the VH tone specifically.
