always thought i was using the wrong size hex wrenches

i just did a search to find out exactly what size hex bolts the floyd rose uses. and according to the specs i have been using the right size wrenches: 2.5mm and 3mm

so why do the wrenches have wiggle room in the bolt head?
is that the way they're supposed to work?

Low quality wrenches and/or weak metal on licnesed floyds... OR, if both are in order, justifiable wear and tear from a lot of use over the years

Which wrenches are good ?

DEPENDS... For Schaller & Gotoh's good metals, hardest japanese or german made tools you can find. Or old USA.

...For crappy pot metal licenseds, its a guessing game of matching similarly low quality material so they dont tear each other up. Good tools can DESTROY those things, near immediately, or as soon as you try to replace a high E at the locking saddle

this would make sense. its an OFR from the mid 80s. the locking nut bolts are original, but the saddles (graphtech) and their intonation- and locking bolts are new. and i've tried a few different allen wreches on them.
